Greeting Cards Are Moving!

Yay! I got my final illustrations on Friday, so I'm getting my card ready to go to the printers on Monday. I am PSYCHED!

Nothing Exciting

I'm proud of myself: I have not missed a day in my blog-a-thon. This week, I'm doing something really, really scary. I'm publishing unedited, unrevised posts. Yikes! It's all part of my master plan, but still, kind of freaky to put blatantly bad writing on my professional blog.
And I approved the second illustration for my first snarky greeting card today. Yay! I'm meeting with the illustrator Friday (hopefully) to exchange files and get cranking on card #2. Keep an eye on your mail... I'm planning to send out first draft copies for comments and input! So if you're not sure whether I have your snail mail, send me a note or comment (not to worry; I don't publish comments with personal info).
Other than that, life here has been pretty tame. Working, trying to juggle all of my projects, playing with N (who gets harder to resist every day; no wait staff, day care worker or grocery bagger is immune to his charm) and discovering that the secret to happiness is coffee in the morning and a glass of wine after dinner. Or a bloody mary, whichever happens to be available.
PS: Blogger's spell checker is completely weird. It trips over words I've spelled correctly, and then suggests the spelling that I'm already using. Am I confused? Missing something? (Can't be too much alcohol, b/c I haven't had a drink yet!)

May Be a While

I've decided to get on the ball with my freelance writing (just because I don't have enough projects going on right now!). So in honor of that resolution, I'm doing a blog-a-thon on my professional blog (sarahzcordell.wordpress.com). My plan is to update it every day (yikes! nothing like being ambitious). So that means I might be a little (OK, a lot) neglectful of my personal blog this month. You'll see my updates on Twitter (just added that widget yesterday — yay!) when I publish a new post, so feel free to check me out and let me know what you think. Thanks!

Playing Ball

Tomorrow we head down to Atlanta, and I am nervous, nervous, nervous. It's not the first time we've traveled with N (far from it!), but it's the first time all three of us will share a hotel room. This could get verrrrry interesting.
I think N is currently working on more teeth. He's drooling like a St. Bernard, and his fingers are constantly in his mouth. Although he's also figured out that his fingers are good for pointing to things, too. He prefers to pick what he eats now (go figure, his favorites are fruit and puffs), he asks for his "ba-ba" (bottle) when he wants a drink and today he started playing "ball" with me! We'd been rolling an old soccer ball of D's back and forth, but today he started "dribbling" (drop it, pick it up, drop it, pick it up, etc.), "passing" the ball to me (putting it in front of me on the couch), "stealing" it (pushing it away from me) and doing some "fancy" hand work (rolling that puppy like a Powerball). We had a blast!
And we did finally get a hair cut. Yay! N didn't mind the cutting, but the trimmer was another matter entirely. However, he came out of it unscathed, although now he officially looks like a little boy and not a baby. Kind of sad for Mommy.
I think I've mentioned that I'm working on my snarky greeting card line. I've approved the sketch of my spokes-cartoon, Bebe W. Jones. Wink Publications now has its own Facebook page (you can find it on my Facebook page) and Bebe has her own Twitter account, too. Eventually, I'll start a blog for her, but I've got enough on my plate right now without adding an alter ego to the mix. However, I'm very excited to be this far. I'm hoping to get my second sketch soon so that I can get some samples and the word out!
I'm going to try to upload a few of N's one year portraits. Becky McClellan (of McClellan Photography — www.McClellanPhotography.com), a former coworker of mine, took these shots up at Furman, and they all turned out SO WELL. Becky rocks!
